English for Older Adults is a language program for older immigrant adults who want to learn English in a comfortable atmosphere.
The program also provides participants with the opportunity to learn about other programs and services available to them in the community.
The program offers:
- 23 classes in 12 locations across Winnipeg
- Classes from Beginner to Advanced
- Language classes geared to participant's needs
- Daytime, weekend and evening classes
Our clients are given the opportunity to:
- learn to understand, speak, read and write English
- meet other people in the community
- participate in group activities such as fieldtrips
- learn about volunteer opportunities
- get connected to community programs and services
- become more aware of activities in the community
- learn about health and wellbeing
Additional supports are available, such as:
- one-on-one support in person or by phone in the participant's first language (as needed)
- transportation (considered based on individual need)
Eligibility
English for Older Adults is a program that provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) training to over 350 immigrant older learners. The classes are free of charge to immigrants and Canadian citizens who are over the age of 55.
