The EAL /ENTRY program has provided opportunity for Older Adults to overcome their language barriers, build up self-confidence, and learn about seniors' resources and services. Our clients become more active, healthier and happier.

Beginner students share things they have learned to do in our program:

"I didn't know any English before, now that I can speak English a little."

"I study many words in this class. "

"I know more English words, I can speak English fluently, much better than before."

"I can talk with my grandchildren."

"I can do banking; write small messages."

"I can use grammar. I know more vocabularies, my pronunciation and conversation are much better now."

"Now I can speak with my neighbours."

"I can express myself in English, listen and understand more when Canadian speaks to me."

"I feel confident in communicating with other people in English."

"I can write short essay or story in English."

"I can find books in library, read medication labels."

"I can talk about sickness, I can talk about my family and share my family pictures."

Testimonials from intermediate and advanced classes:

"I have learned a lot of Canadian life style and culture. We have learned the basic everyday English. EAL class is also a very good social place for us to communicate, to socialize, and to make new friends."

"It is beautiful to be in a seniors' school (English for Seniors program). It reminds us to our childhood. We feel protected by our teacher whom we consult with our concerns. Our self-confidence increases as we learn more English very day. Thank you Teacher!"

"My first few years in Canada were quite dependent on my daughter because of my English level. I couldn't go anywhere without my daughter. After these years living in Canada, I learned to take a bus. I have been attending seniors English class, so my listening skills have improved a bit"

"We are really thankful to the provincial and federal governments who have helped immigrants through these EAL classes. We had very nice and joyous teachers in our experience. Now, we are confident to go out and do things on our own."

"First I could learn English and now I got my fundamentals in computer, I'm very thankful to A & O and CRM for making it possible for me to enjoy more experiences in my life."

"I'm grateful that I could get basic computer training, and I wish to continue learning more so I could use computer, internet and email my family back home (their home countries)."

"I was afraid to touch the computer before, but since I attend the computer course, I enjoyed it. I've learnt more and more everyday, because it made me feel more confidence on myself."
